Collaborative Activity: Interpreting Interaction in Your Digital Community

Step 1: Share Your Examples (5–10 minutes)

With a partner, briefly share your 3 examples (links or screenshots). For each one, give a quick description of what is happening.

Step 2: Peer Questions (10 minutes)

For each person’s examples, the listener should ask:

  • Is this collaboration, conflict, support, or something mixed? Why?
  • What might someone outside the community misunderstand about this interaction and why?

Step 3: Identify Patterns (10 minutes)

Together, discuss:

  • Do you notice any patterns across the examples (tone, behavior, rules, types of interaction)?
  • How do people seem to build relationships in this community?
  • Where do you see connection or collaboration happening?
  • Where do you see tension, exclusion, misinformation, or conflict?
  • How does this example help you understand the community more deeply?

Step 5: Notes (10 minutes)

Think about what you discussed and make some quick notes that you think could be included in your digital community profile. Try to focus on connection between the examples–what do all the examples reveal about relationships and communication in this community?
